Kane County Sheriff's Office is responsible for the Search and Rescue in the 5000 squares miles of Kane County. The County borders Arizona and includes the Grand Staircase Escalante monument, the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion National Park, the Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Parks and Kodachrome State Park.  Kane County also has the Dixie National Forest and numerous slot canyons and hiking trails. The Kane County Sheriff's Office Search & Rescue also provides assistance to the Coconino County Arizona Sheriff's Office with calls to the Kaibab National Forest, the Wave recreation area and the Buckskin Gulch which starts in Kane County and exits in Coconino County. 

Kane County has approximately 7,000 year round residents & received over 4 million recreational visitors a year.

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office  Search and Rescue team is comprised of about 35 volunteers, who contribute their time and skills    to help others in need. The Kane County Sheriff's Office and the Kane County Search and Rescue respond to over 300 assistance related calls per year.

The team members are trained or bring their expertise in many aspects of rescue, including technical (high angle) rescue, low angle rescue, swift-water rescue, K9, human-tracking, ice rescue, medical and many others.
